The direct heating method used on these UHT Plants offers the advantage of a very high product quality. The integral steam injector and a flash cooler provide very short residence times in the temperature intensive zones. Due to this treatment method, the efficiency is not that high compared to the indirect heating principle. In addition the steam applied must be in food grade quality.
